The LMS allows for easy setup and deployment of your SCORM-based e-learning course in the LMS. Here is an overview of the steps necessary to ensure successfuly definition and deployment of course content to your LMS portal:
Part One - Preparation of SCORM-conformant content files for upload and deployment
- First, package your SCORM-conformant course content into a single .zip file, ensuring that the imsmanifest.xml file is located in the root folder of the zip file. Please note that the method/tool you use for zipping your content can impact the folder structure and therefore the location of the manifest file, so be sure to double-check its location after the content is zipped.
- Second, you will also want to establish a file name for the SCORM .zip file that will match exactly the course code that will be used for your catalog entry in the LMS (e.g. Course Code: "SALES101" - and - SCORM zip file name: "SALES101.zip"). It is this common information that creates the link between the course catalog entry and the actual course content in the LMS. (note that you can have two courses with the same course code in the LMS as long as the version field is different, but the package name is only the code)
- Finally, remove the .zip extension from the file name (i.e. you can simply rename the file and remove the .zip file type extension). This step is required for the automated upload and deployment process to function properly.
Part Two: Catalog Entry and Content Deployment
- Once you have logged into your learning portal as the Portal Administrator, click on 'Courses' => 'Add Course' from the left navigation area to populate the appropriate course catalog information.
- Again, you must reconfirm that the Course Code entered as part of the Add Course process is exactly the same as the SCORM file uploaded to the FTP Site (e.g. Course Code: "SALES101" - and - SCORM zip file name: "SALES101")
- Be sure that the Delivery Method selected identifies the course for e-Learning delivery (e.g. as e-Learning Pre-Approved or e-Learning Requires Approval).
- Once you have successfully submitted the page and created the course record in the catalog, navigate to the ‘SCORM’ tab tied to that course and click on 'Browse' to search for the SCORM content file of the same name (e.g. "SALES101"); Click Deploy and wait for the on-page notification that your content has been queued for deployment.
- From your home page, you can monitor the status of your deployment...First, you will receive an announcement that your course content has been queued up for deployment, then a second confirmation announcement will also be generated upon completion. Once the content has been deployed, you can search for the course and click ‘Test Launch’ from the SCORM tab to preview your content. Please note that if course load succeeds or fails, you will see a corresponding message on your homepage.
Special Notes
- Many authoring tools already format the initial zip file in terms of manifest location, so all of these steps may not be necessary. However, please confirm you’re your first set of content to ensure a successfully deployment to the LMS.
- Please note that the LatitudeLearning LMS does not require use of a specific course authoring tool (e.g. Articulate, Captivate, Lectora, custom-build), but instead relies on industry course development and communication standards. LatitudeLearning LMS is SCORM 1.2 and 2004 Conformant; only SCORM conformant content helps to ensure proper communication between the course and the LMS for launch and status tracking.
Portal Administrators can access these instructions at any time directly from the SCORM tab for any e-learning course you define in the catalog by clicking on the (?) icon adjacent the 'Browse' button located under the Course Deployment heading.

I'm trying to upload a SCORM course but I keep getting an error message indicating that the code does not match the filename and i've renamed the file numerous times. Can you assist?
