Delivery Assurance

LatitudeLearning’s Delivery Assurance methodology is based on our extensive experience using the Rational Unified Process (RUP) and the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) methodologies. Our projects have the following focused phases: Inception, Elaboration, Construction, and Transition.

Phase

Description

Inception

Initial Requirements and Scope

Elaboration

Determine Risks, Build Small Prototypes

Construction

Build Application

Transition

Move to Production

Production

Manage System Reliability

Inception Phase

Initial Requirements are determined as well as the Business Case and Scope.

Deliverables
  • Vision Document
  • Initial use-case model
  • Initial Business Case, which includes business context, success criteria (revenue projection, market recognition and financial forecast).
  • Initial Risk Assessment
  • Document Hardware Environments
  • Document Software Environments
  • Revised Project Plan (for all phases)
Checkpoint
  • Stakeholder concurrence on scope definition and cost / schedule estimates
  • Go / No-Go Decision Point

Elaboration Phase

During the Elaboration Phase, risks are determined and small prototypes are built to mitigate those risks.  This phase is heavy on System Analysis and Design.

Deliverables
  • Use-Case Model (80%) complete
  • Executable Architectural Prototype
  • Revised Risk List and a Revised Business Case
  • Development Plan
  • Preliminary User Manual
Checkpoint
  • Are the actual resource expenditures versus the ROI acceptable?
  • Go / No-Go Decision Point

Construction Phase

Build the application.  At this time, the development team knows how the application will be built.  Most of the unknowns were resolved during the Elaboration phase.

Deliverables
  • Completed software product running on the proposed hardware
  • Complete User Manual
Checkpoint
  • Are all the stakeholders in agreement that the LMS can be released to the user community?
  • Are the actual resource expenditures versus the ROI acceptable?
  • Go / No-Go Decision Point

Transition Phase

Rollout the software product to the user community.

Deliverables
  • Test plan
  • Hardware rollout plan
  • Training of users and maintainers
  • Training of help desk
Checkpoint
  • Is the user satisfied?
  • Are the actual resource expenditures versus the ROI acceptable?

Production Phase

Manage System Reliability.  Please note that enhancements and major releases will for through the Inception, Elaboration, Construction, and Transition phases again.

Deliverables
  • Problem reports from the hotline
  • Bug fix report
Checkpoint
  • Is the user satisfied?
  • Do stakeholders agree on priority of bug fixes?
  • Are the actual resource expenditures versus the ROI acceptable?
