Latitude Develops New Technology Solutions For American Board of Emergency Medicine
SALINE, MI (November 7, 2006) - Emergency physicians will now be able to spend more time practicing medicine and less time on paper work, thanks to four new technology projects developed by Latitude Consulting Group for the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). ABEM, one of twenty-four medical specialty certification boards that comprise the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), certifies emergency physicians and manages a formal Maintenance of Certification (MOC) process for emergency physicians who meet its educational, professional standing, practice performance, and examination standards.
Latitude worked closely with ABEM staff to produce a custom, fully integrated application to assist in the configuration, scheduling and reporting required for ABEM’s oral certification examinations. The semi-annual examination is part of the organization’s initial certification program and consists of 14 medical scenarios presented to candidates who are evaluated by trained physician-examiners. A range of candidates, examiners, cases and testing suites must be scheduled over the course of these multi-day examinations. The flexible application and rules engine effectively minimizes and manages conflicts between examiners and candidates, and provides a flexible scheduling and reporting tool that significantly reduces the amount of time spent on administrative scheduling activities.
