LatitudeLearning Launches Academy in a Box™ to Help Organizations Build Complete Training Academies Without Building a Training Department

New five-year managed training program combines strategy, custom training development, certification, LMS technology, AI-powered knowledge access, and ongoing support in one coordinated offering.

SALINE, Mich. — August 14, 2026LatitudeLearning today announced the launch of Academy in a Box™, a new managed training program designed to help organizations build and scale professional training academies without the cost, complexity, and staffing requirements of building a complete internal training department.

Academy in a Box™ brings together training strategy, curriculum development, custom training content, assessments and certification, the LatitudeLearning LMS, Lumina™ AI knowledge technology, implementation, administration support, and ongoing program development through one coordinated five-year program.

“Many organizations already have the knowledge they need to train their people and partners. What they don’t have is the infrastructure and specialized resources required to turn that knowledge into a scalable training program,” said Jeff Walter of LatitudeLearning. “Academy in a Box gives them another option. They bring the knowledge. We bring the people, process, and technology to build the academy.”

An Alternative to Building an Internal Training Department

Building a sophisticated training program often requires organizations to assemble multiple capabilities, including training strategy, instructional design, course development, LMS technology, certification, AI knowledge tools, administration, measurement, and ongoing program management.

For organizations without an established training department, creating that capability can require significant upfront investment and specialized headcount.

Academy in a Box™ is designed to remove that barrier.

Rather than requiring customers to separately hire employees, consultants, course developers, technology providers, and administrators, LatitudeLearning brings those capabilities together in one managed program. Customers provide their subject matter expertise, operating procedures, product and service knowledge, existing resources, brand standards, and business objectives. LatitudeLearning turns that knowledge into structured curricula, training, assessments, certifications, and scalable learning infrastructure.

The concept reflects a simple idea behind the new program:

Building a training program shouldn’t require building a training department.

More Than an LMS

Academy in a Box™ is designed for organizations that need more than technology.

The program can include training strategy, curriculum and learning-path design, custom online courses, microlearning, assessments, job aids, scenario-based learning, instructor-led materials, on-the-job activities, certifications, and skill assessments.

The LatitudeLearning LMS provides the technology infrastructure for delivering and managing the academy. Organizations can automate learning assignments, manage certifications, track progress, delegate administration, support multiple locations and partner organizations, and report across complex distributed networks.

Lumina™ complements structured training by providing learners with on-demand access to answers drawn from company-approved resources. Rather than relying on public internet content, Lumina uses approved materials such as operating procedures, policies, product documentation, training resources, and job aids.

Together, the two technologies address different moments of need: the LMS provides structured training to teach people what they need to know and do, while Lumina helps people find trusted answers when they need immediate guidance.

A Five-Year Path From Building to Ownership

Unlike a traditional training development project, Academy in a Box™ is structured as a five-year program intended to mature alongside the customer’s organization.

The program progresses through five stages:

  • Year 1 — BUILD: Establish the strategy, curriculum, initial training, certifications, LMS, Lumina, and launch.
  • Year 2 — ADOPT: Increase adoption and improve the learner experience through optimization, automation, content improvements, and knowledge expansion.
  • Year 3 — SCALE: Extend the academy to new audiences, roles, locations, products, and business functions.
  • Year 4 — OPTIMIZE: Begin connecting training to business outcomes such as sales performance, customer satisfaction, warranty costs, operational consistency, and location performance.
  • Year 5 — OWN: Mature the academy through governance, knowledge transfer, content maintenance, administration, and long-term planning.

The multi-year structure also enables organizations to spread the investment required to build their training capability across the partnership rather than absorbing the entire development cost upfront.

At the successful conclusion of the five-year agreement, ownership of custom-developed training assets transfers to the customer according to the terms of the agreement. Customers can then continue using the LatitudeLearning LMS and Lumina and engage LatitudeLearning for additional training development, administration, and optimization services as needed.

“By the end of the program, the goal isn’t for the customer to simply have a collection of courses,” Walter said. “The goal is for them to have a mature training capability that has become part of how their organization operates. We build the academy. They build their business.”

Designed for Distributed Organizations

Academy in a Box™ is particularly suited for organizations that depend on people outside the corporate office to represent their brand, sell or service their products, and deliver a consistent customer experience.

Potential applications include franchise networks seeking consistent franchisee, manager, and frontline training; manufacturers training dealer and distributor networks; and organizations that depend on service providers, installers, contractors, resellers, agents, and other external partners.

For these organizations, training must do more than transfer knowledge. It must help create consistent capabilities across independently operated locations and partner organizations.

Academy in a Box™ is designed to turn existing organizational knowledge—from SOPs and manuals to product documentation and experienced subject matter experts—into structured training, certification, and on-demand knowledge that can scale with the network.
